Chairman, JEMYAD; Founder and Chairman, Indigo Group
Ömer Tosun is Chairman of the Geothermal Investors Association (JEMYAD) and Founder and Chairman of Indigo Group. His investments across tourism, hospitality, energy, natural resources and agriculture contribute to Cappadocia’s economic development and international profile.
Tosun began his career in tourism in the 1970s and worked in banking between 1979 and 1988. In 1992, he established Indigo Group in Cappadocia, expanding his activities as an entrepreneur and investor. He leads a diversified portfolio spanning tourism and gastronomy, geothermal energy, natural carbon dioxide production, agriculture and viticulture.
Among his signature projects is Museum Hotel, which brings Cappadocia’s architectural heritage into a distinctive hospitality setting. Developed through restoration work initiated in 1998 and opened in 2003, the hotel integrates historic caves and stone buildings within a “living museum” concept. Tosun’s background as an antiques collector has also helped shape the property’s cultural identity.
Building on Indigo Group’s geothermal activities, which began in 2008, Tosun has expanded his involvement in the energy sector. Through JEMYAD, he contributes to initiatives that explore geothermal resources beyond electricity generation, including their applications in thermal tourism, agriculture and regional development. His work also supports dialogue among investors, public institutions and industry stakeholders.
Tosun is Founding Chairman of the Cappadocia Area Tourism Investors Association (KAPYAD), a Board Member of the Turkish Tourism Investors Association (TTYD), and a founding Board Member of the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA). He also serves as Honorary Consul of Brazil for Nevşehir and Kayseri. In 2018, he was awarded Brazil’s Order of Rio Branco. He speaks English and French.
