Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar

Prof. Halil Hasar has served as Türkiye’s Director of Climate Change since August 2023. Trained in environmental engineering at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, he has worked on clean and energy-efficient technologies, water and wastewater treatment, resource recovery and carbon footprints.

He conducted research at Arizona State University and University College Dublin and participated in international collaborative projects. From 2015 to 2020, he served as Vice Rector for R&D and International Relations at Fırat University. His academic work also covers membrane technologies and environmental infrastructure. He is serving as Chief Climate Diplomacy Officer in Türkiye’s preparations for COP31.
