Why the Geothermal Investment Summit?

The energy, agriculture and food, and tourism sectors, which constitute three of the four priority development areas of the 12th Development Plan covering the period 2024-2028, are the main utilization areas of the geothermal resource sector. Considering geothermal resources in Turkey, this sector has the potential to be the driving force for development through these development areas.

However, to strengthen development through the effective use of geothermal resources, it is crucial to review the regulatory framework, improve the investment environment, and mobilize financing opportunities. If these conditions are met, it is possible to:

  • Increase energy production from domestic and renewable sources within the framework of the 2053 net-zero emissions target,
  • Ensure supply security and food safety in agriculture and food through greenhouse cultivation,
  • Create a new investment area with similar potential to coastal tourism, balance tourism diversity at a strategic level, and spread tourism across the country for 12 months.

The International Geothermal Investment Summit is organized by JEMYAD to bring together all stakeholders in the geothermal sector, both public and private, to accelerate investments in this sector and make it a driving force for national development. Around 250 experts and managers from the private sector, universities, and public institutions are expected to attend the summit, which will be held on May 9, 2025, at the Marriot Cappadocia Hotel in Nevşehir.
